I am proficient with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, and outlook. I have a lot of experience using these programs for a wide variety of tasks. I have created formulas on excel to calculate the percentage of student's attendance, analysed data and created training booklets for new members of staff. I have used web browsers and various databases to access information and input data. In addition, I was involved in designing a new portal for students to access, this involved gathering questionnaires from student to determine what features would be beneficial to them on the new system. Through studying my degree and general interest in counselling I have gained knowledge and interest in the existential approach, I am fascinated by the concept of taking into consideration the multiple dimensions of human experience; the physical, spiritual and psychological in order to help clients reduce their destructive behaviour and heal in their totality. I have significant experience working within higher education and have attended numerous conferences and events in order to keep up to date with the legislative changes. I was responsible for making sure the campus student database was up to date, checking that all details were inputted accurately and quickly onto the system to enable students to be monitored easily. Through working within higher education and legal industry, tact and diplomacy are methods I often used to ensure highly confidential information was handled effectively. Through dealing with confidential issues with students I have increased my understanding of confidentiality and data protection issues. With regards to safeguarding issues all information was kept in a secure place and only visible to the relevant safeguarding officer and local prevent team. Furthermore, whilst working at KWLC I dealt with highly sensitive client information which needed to be stored confidentially. When volunteering for Childline I abided by their specific confidentiality policy to ensure all young people receive the appropriate support needed. I have previous experience working on a reception in both a College and a Legal firm. Therefore, I understand the importance of making a positive impression as the first point of contact, greeting and welcoming guests as soon as they arrive at the office and on all interactions whether it be telephone or email communication, ensuring I deal with everyone in a professional manner. Working within an administration department, I have proven ability to answer and forward incoming phone calls whilst completing various tasks. Any information or details I provided to stakeholders would be checked for accuracy and clarity whether it was in-person or via phone/email, proofreading each email before it was sent. As part of my additional duties I maintained office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk eg monitored the logbook and issuance of visitor badges. I ordered office supplies, kept an inventory of stock, updated calendars and scheduled meetings. I kept updated records of office expenses and costs and performed other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying, transcribing and faxing.
