NSPC

Professional training

NSPC offers four main routes of professional training, in collaboration with Middlesex University. 

1.  We provide a qualification in existential psychotherapy recognized by the Universities Psychotherapy and Counselling Association, leading to registration by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy.  This requires four years of professional training in existential psychotherapy and can be achieved by taking our foundation course, followed by three years of either of our masters and doctoral level trainings.  When you have completed the MProf in either Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling, or in Existential Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy and you have completed at least 450 hours of NSPC supervised placement work, you will be able to apply to the UKCP register for registration as an existential psychotherapist. 

2. We provide a qualification in counselling psychology leading to professional membership and chartering with the British Psychological Society as well as to registration as a counselling psychologist with the Health Professions Council.  This route is only open to those applicants who have the graduate basis for chartering (GBC)with the BPS.  They need to have a first degree in psychology, followed by our foundation course (or equivalent), followed by four years of the doctorate (DPsych) in Existential Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy (a joint degree with Middlesex University). 

3. We provide a qualification in existential coaching, which leads to a diploma in Existential Coaching, allowing you to establish yourself as an existential coach.  

 

4. A post qualification programme to qualify as an existential supervisor and group trainer.  The modules for this course are also included in both the DProf and DPsych programmes, leading to qualification as an existential supervisor and trainer.
